About Me

I am a human geographer specializing in international students and immigrant enclaves. I have a PhD from York University in Toronto, an M. Sc. in Globalization, Migration, and Development at Radboud University in the Netherlands and an M.A. degree in Law from UAM in Poland. After having lived in Central Europe, the Netherlands and eventually becoming a Canadian citizen, I like to think of myself as a permanent immigrant.

I like to modify the paths I take. That also applies to means of self-expression. I have published a novel in Polish and dozens of essays in English, as well as academic work. In recent years, I picked photography. I love how it compliments the written efforts to portray the world. What drives me is a deep passion for human stories and the diversity of ways of telling them. Cinema, Sufi poetry and South Asian literature are among the ones that speak to me the most. The latter brought me to Hindi which I speak and write comfortably.

My next steps include research projects and reportage series focusing on the global immigrant community, located in Canada, India and throughout Europe. I believe in the synergy of perspectives and the power of intersecting fields of expertise. I always prioritize collaborative projects over solo endeavours. Let’s talk!
