(Re)Searching for Canadian Studies

(Re)Searching for Canadian Studies (CanSearch) is an international, interdisciplinary project funded by the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant (2022-2025). Conducted by Professor Jean Michel Montsion from York University and an international team of Canadianists, this project aims to assess how Canadian Studies is researched and taught outside of Canada and to foster stronger connections between domestic and international networks in Canadian Studies. I’ve been involved in CanSearch as a Project Manager since its beginning in 2021. I worked closely with Professor Montsion and the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies as well as with a network of scholars through the International Council for Canadian Studies.

My role as a Lead Project Manager is to facilitate the progress of the research, fostering cooperation of multiple international and domestic institutions, research centres and universities in order to maintain the timely execution of the project’s goals, using extensive networks of the International Council for Canadian Studies and various national Canadian Studies associations; In my daily tasks, I also take part in developing the research tools, namely the quantitative survey aimed at assessing the changes in the research and teaching of Canadian Studies using Qualtrics Software. I have also worked on designing interview scripts with prominent scholars representing Canadian Studies institutions worldwide as well as outreach, recruitment and promotion tools, coordinating the Undergraduate Mentoring program as well as the Summer Research Assistant program for undergraduate students and co-writing research funding grants. Currently, we are working on the first of the articles describing the findings of the project.
